Liability For San Mateo County Car Accidents
Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “Every day, about 32 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 45 minutes. In 2020, 11,654 people died in alcohol-impaired driving traffic deaths — a 14% increase from 2019.” Even small amounts of alcohol can negatively impair drivers in the following ways.
- Drivers under the influence of alcohol are less able to stay in their own lane.
- Drivers under the influence of alcohol have delayed reaction times.
- Drivers under the influence of alcohol have difficulty maintaining their speed.
What many people do not understand is that alcohol is not the only substance that could potentially impair them. Any person that causes a car accident while intoxicated may face criminal and civil liability. The family of any person that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
