Liability In Oakland Pedestrian Accidents

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the United States. According to the CDC, “Adults aged 65 years and older accounted for about 17% of the U.S. population in 2020. However, people ages 65 and older accounted for 20% of all pedestrian deaths in 2020.” There are a number of factors that could potentially contribute to a pedestrian accident:

  • Speeding
  • Drunk driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions

The family of any victim that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Sadly though, insurance companies will often fight extremely hard to deny liability for any collision. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
