Liability For Nuevo Bicycle Accidents

Bicyclists are uniquely vulnerable in car accidents. They lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are more likely to be overlooked. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Bicycle trips make up only 1% of all trips in the United States. However, bicyclists account for over 2% of people who die in a crash involving a motor vehicle on our nation’s roads.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a car accident.

  • Speeding
  • Drunk driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid hitting bicyclists. The family of any person that is killed due to the negligent actions of a driver may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover many of the sudden expenses that come with the loss of a loved one. Sadly, though, it is common for drivers to fight hard to deny liability for any collision.
