The ‘Coastal Fire’ in Laguna Niguel, Orange County
Dubbed the ‘Coastal Fire’, swift-moving flames in the Laguna Niguel area of Orange County have burned 200 acres of land, destroyed 24 homes, and forced hundreds of area residents to evacuate their homes.
The Coastal fire was first reported at 2:44pm on Wednesday, May 12th, and has yet to be contained by Orange County firefighters – leaving area homes and businesses under threat and causing residents to evacuate.
Who is Responsible for the Coastal Fire?
While the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the local utility company, Southern California Edison (SCE) have issued a statement that there was “circuit activity occurring close in time to the reported time of the fire”.
If the fire was in fact caused by SCE, fire victims can seek compensation for the damages that they have incurred.
