Liability For Torrance Hit-And-Run Collisions
Speeding is one of the most common causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2020, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are a number of steps that drivers should take in order to avoid collisions.
- Drivers should slow down during periods of inclement weather.
- Drivers should scan the road ahead of them for potential hazards.
- Drivers should check their blind spots before making turns.
All drivers have a legal obligation to operate their vehicle at a safe speed and follow distance with other vehicles. There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that rear-ends another vehicle in their own lane of traffic. The family of any person that is killed in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
