Sadly, the pedestrian died as a result of his injuries. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
Liability For Palmdale Car Accidents
Drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid hitting pedestrians. Pursuant to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.” If a driver goes through a red light and hits a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Victims of pedestrian accidents tend to suffer very serious injuries including:
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Lacerations
- Organ damage
The family of any person that is killed in a Palmdale collision may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and funeral expenses. Sadly, though, drivers will often fight extremely hard to deny liability for any collision. A pedestrian accident attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
