Liability For Santa Clarita Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrians are uniquely vulnerable in car accidents. They lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are more likely to be overlooked. According to the CDC, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020. That’s about one death every 75 minutes.” The vast majority of pedestrian accidents are totally preventable and may be caused by:
- Driver distraction
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
- Driver intoxication
All drivers must exercise due care to avoid hitting pedestrians. When a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person that is injured in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A pedestrian accident attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
